After Sparklette #34, I feel the need to balance out the scales and share a story when it was my husband whose good humor and kindness saved the day from my grouchiness. What can I say? We've both had our moments...
The unfortunate truth of this particular experience is that I had not just arrived from a 15-hour flight. I was not jet-lagged, I was not stressed out for any specific reason. I was simply cranky, and basically unnecessarily snappy and snarky (although is it ever really necessary to be either?) over the course of an entire day.
During this time, my husband rolled with it, letting me make my little snide remarks, never once expressing any interest in participating in my little cranky dance. At the end of the day, he said something to me - I have no idea what - but my response was something like, "Blah, blah, blah...I'm not a mind reader!"
My husband immediately started chuckling and said - with a smile on his face - "But I thought you could read my mind!", followed by, "What am I thinking right now?" And thankfully, some part of my brain raised its hand, stood up and said, "Ahem - excuse me little missy, but your husband here has been incredibly patient with you all day, and he's still trying to create some laughter here, so how about let's hop off the cranky bus and join the fun," because I then said to my husband, "You're thinking that I'm being totally cranky," and my husband laughed and said, "See! You ARE a mind reader!!"
And we both cracked up, and I remembered how much I love him.
Great post. hope you are now feeling better.

He's a gem. I think you should keep him and rub his tummy from time to time.

A "sparkly sparklette," indeed, as Gillian said. Laughter always helps defuse potential explosions. :)

That was a very sweet story! I like the counter-balance of both stories: your sweetness, and his.

You and L share the same ability J and I have...when a fight rears it's ugly head, you can avoid it through logic and reason before it erupts into something yucky and cranky.
That is the sign of a happy relationship, believe it or not! lol
That was a sparkly sparklette, I liked it. Happy Easter!
